The sales are on in London, summer clothes galore, but when you shop in your winter coat it seems to be only half the fun.

The Weekend!

It's the weekend soon! we have survived our first week back at school - but still trying to sort out clubs and pick-ups and putting names to faces, trying not to introduce myself to the same people to often ....

London is  celebrating with a free end-of-summer festival around town and gearing up to London Fashion week. If you want to get into the mood, there is a college pop up shop in the West End, selling designs by London College of Fashion graduates. And if you want to dare summer one more time, you could go and enjoy Romeo and Juliet at Regents Park. Whatever you do, have a lovely weekend!

A look

A Jasper Conran dress was the first ever piece my husband bought for me, so I am a bit bias here but I do like his style a lot. He is very much a classic British designer but with a slight irreverent touch.

Jasper Conran will have a Sample Sale from the 25-27 May, from 10am - 6pm, at 1-7 Rostrevor Mews in Fulham. Now only one question remains: Will I send my husband or shall I go myself?

As you might have noticed, I am not a purist and I do not mind mixing. And London is the perfect city for this kind of approach. A tiny bit of planning is not a bad thing, because ist is a big city after all, but combine this with some drifting and you get a perfect day in the city.

Wallace Part II

Here fashion designer Vivienne Westwood talks about how the Wallace Collection inspires her collections. It is in my view a very nice example of just how timeless art can be, how its influence will fluctuate through centuries, but can change perspectives and inspire again and again.

This youtube video, which I found through visitlondon, is apparently done by Creative Spaces, but I could not find any trace of it apart from this note here. Any tip is welcome.

London Fashion Week

I have come across so many articles about fashion this last week, obviously, that I am now totally indoctrinated and have to add my own. You can hardly call me an expert, so do not expect any wise words (it is a bit like commenting on wine if you only know how to drink it but  hardly have a clue where or how this specific wine came about). Inspiring it can be even without so many words:

I happened upon Charlotte Taylor's Spring11 collection only recently and love her choice of colours.
The British designer studied at Central St Martin's, London, and set up on her own in 2009, launching her label at London Fashion Week in February 2010.
For the autumn season she focuses on prints and - a limited wallpaper edition!
